His diverse background, including dedicated military service in the Army, has shaped a unique perspective on leadership and community building. He is a graduate of West Virginia University, Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, and holds a Doctorate in Ministry from Trinity Evangelical Seminary. He is a family man and has varied interests such as motorcycling, civil war reenacting, and performing in community bands.
